Terms of Service
Last updated
Urbs is an early product and free for now. Its answers and place data can be incomplete or wrong, so check anything important before relying on it. Use it lawfully, don’t scrape or resell the data, and keep source attributions. Your content stays yours.
About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Urbs (“Urbs”, “we”, “us”) covering the Urbs app and website. By creating an account or using Urbs, you accept them. If you use Urbs on behalf of an organisation, you accept them for that organisation and confirm you’re authorised to. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information.
The service
Urbs lets you ask questions about places in plain language, see the results on a map and in tables, compare areas, annotate maps and save places to lists you can export as CSV files.
- Sample workspaces. New accounts use sample data. The businesses in it are fictional and labelled as such, so don’t rely on them for real decisions.
- Live data pilot. Real business and area data is currently available only to accounts we invite to a pilot. Its sources are listed on our data sources page.
- Price. Urbs is currently free. Before introducing any charge, we’ll tell you the price and terms, and we won’t charge you without your agreement.
Urbs is under active development, so we may add, change or remove features. If we remove something you depend on, we’ll try to give you reasonable notice.
Your account
- You must be 18 or over and use Urbs for business, research or professional purposes.
- You sign in through a supported provider such as Google or Apple. Keep that account secure: you’re responsible for what happens under your Urbs account.
- If you think your account has been misused, tell us straight away at tamas@urbsai.com.
Acceptable use
You must not:
- break the law or infringe anyone’s rights;
- use Urbs to track, profile, harass or target individuals, or to find private people;
- use information from Urbs for marketing that breaks the rules on unsolicited calls, texts or emails, such as PECR, UK GDPR, CAN-SPAM or the TCPA;
- scrape or bulk-download data, use automated tools to access Urbs except through features we provide for that purpose, or get around usage limits or access controls;
- resell, sublicense or republish data from Urbs as a dataset, or use it to build a competing database or service;
- remove or hide source attributions or licence notices;
- probe, disrupt or overload the service, or reverse engineer it except where the law allows;
- try to make the assistant produce unlawful or harmful content, or present its answers as verified fact.
To keep Urbs fair and available, we limit how often accounts can ask questions, search and export. We may change these limits as the service grows.
Your content
You own the questions, notes, annotations, lists and anything else you put into Urbs. You allow us to store, process and display it, and to send it to the service providers named in our Privacy Policy, only as needed to run Urbs for you. Only add content you have the right to use. If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without any obligation to you.
Data, attribution and outputs
- Place and area data comes from third parties under their own licences. Those licences, and the attribution notices we show, apply to your use as well. Keep the attribution with any data you export or share.
- You may use results and exports within your organisation, and quote small extracts with attribution in your own reports, presentations and analysis. You may not redistribute the underlying data in bulk.
- Assistant answers are generated by AI from the data available to it. You may use them as you wish, subject to these terms and the source licences.
Accuracy and availability
Place data shows what its source published in the snapshot named with each result; it isn’t checked in real time. Businesses open, close, move and change. The assistant can misread a question, miss places or state things that aren’t true. Treat Urbs as a research aid, and check anything important yourself before relying on it, especially for property, investment, legal or safety decisions.
We work to keep Urbs available but can’t promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free or available at any particular time. We may pause it for maintenance, or when a provider we rely on is unavailable.
As far as the law allows, Urbs is provided “as is”, and we exclude any warranties not set out in these terms, including fitness for a particular purpose.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can’t legally be limited.
Otherwise, we aren’t liable for lost profits, revenue, business, opportunity or data, or for indirect or consequential losses. Our total liability arising from Urbs in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of £100 and the amount you paid us in that period.
Suspension and closing your account
You can stop using Urbs at any time and ask us to delete your account at tamas@urbsai.com. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts the service or other people at risk, or where the law requires. Where it’s reasonable, we’ll explain why and give you a chance to fix the problem or export your lists first. If we close Urbs entirely, we’ll give at least 30 days’ notice.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Urbs changes. We’ll tell signed-in users about material changes at least 14 days before they take effect. If you keep using Urbs after that, the new terms apply; if you don’t agree with them, stop using Urbs and ask us to delete your account.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. This doesn’t remove any right you have under the law of your own country to bring proceedings there or rely on its protections.
